Double bomb peonies remind me so much of double peonies. One of my favorites is salmon peony poppy from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. It has a sweet scent, with loads upon loads of pinkish cream petals.
Seed Cost is Inexpensive
When ordering seeds from Baker Creek, the first thing to consider is that these are quality heirloom seeds. It is simple to save seeds from poppies and will grant you with an abundance of seeds for the next season.
The other great thing about Baker Creek is the free shipping, even if you are buying one seed packet. If you have a stock pile of seeds and swore you weren’t buying any more this season, then come across this poppy seed and are just awe-struck. About $3 for the packet of seeds, tax, and you don’t need to worry about shipping. The shipping is quick as well.
And just $3 for lots of seeds. That’s one thing I love about Baker Creek. They put a decent amount of seeds in their packets. Your not paying $3 for only a few seeds.

Review as a Cutting Flower
I’ve made arrangements with this poppy before. And although it is stunning with other flowers like carnations and phlox, the stem in the vase begins to rot. It is such a bummer! Yet, I still plan to try growing these again as cut flowers, even just for the arrangements for my home. The flowers still last a long time compared to other ones, but the rotting stem can add bacteria to the water as well cut the stem off from the water source.
Review as Bedding Flower
If it’s not a great flower for arrangements, just arrange it in the landscape! The blooms are seasonal, but so are roses and peonies. Keep in mind that poppy seeds are countless and will start a poppy patch. So, choose an area in the landscape where these poppies can bloom and reseed every year.
When I grew them with the intent of a cutting flower, but ended up also using them as landscape in the garden. We rototilled them in without thinking about trialing if they will reseed in the summer and fall to bloom the following season.
Review as Companion Flower
Companion flowers are usually annuals that bloom all season. Poppies just don’t do that, so I don’t recommend them as companion flowers.
